Welcome to Mother Den

Mother Den is a place where new and expectant mothers gather to grapple with the meaning, mortality, and existential transformation of motherhood, so that we can step into our messy, beautiful, new selves, and rewrite the rules of motherhood together.

A "den" is a place of respite, comfort, and community, which many mothers are sorely missing in today's society. A den is also where underground acts are happening and radical ideas are spreading. Mother Den is both of these: sanctuary and site of a revolution in motherhood.

YOU, if you are a new or expectant mother—however you define those terms. It could mean you have a newborn for the first time; or you have a six-year-old, eight-year-old, and a teenager; or you are pregnant (again); or you are just starting to consider whether or when to have a child.

YOU, if you see motherhood as a confrontation with existence, mortality, and the introduction of a new human consciousness in the world. Motherhood touches the very being of being human, and no one seems to talk about it this way.
